Vince Lawrence is a seminal figure in the evolution of House Music. His journey began in the early 1980s when he co-authored "On and On" with Jesse Saunders, a track widely regarded as the first house music recording.
This groundbreaking release laid the foundation for a genre that would revolutionize dance floors worldwide.
Beyond his contributions as a producer, Lawrence played a pivotal role as the founding partner of Trax Records, a label instrumental in disseminating house music globally. His entrepreneurial spirit and innovative vision were crucial in bringing the sounds of Chicago's underground scene to a broader audience.
Lawrence's influence extended to the co-creation of "Love Can't Turn Around," in collaboration with Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Jesse Saunders, keyboardist Duane Buford and vocalist Darryl Pandy. Released in 1986, this track became the first house record to cross over from U.S. clubs to the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number 10 and cementing Lawrence's status as a global ambassador of the genre.

Holy funkadelic resurgence, music aficionados! The legendary Captain Sky, known to mere mortals as Daryl Cameron, is set to soar back onto the music scene! After decades of interstellar silence, this pioneer of late '70s funk—whose cosmic grooves like "Super Sporm" have influenced generations—is teaming up with house music maestro Vince Lawrence. Lawrence, who began his ascent under Captain Sky's wing at the tender age of 14, is now producing new tracks for the Captain, slated for release in the first quarter of 2025.
